Hannah Clarke '17

Hannah Clarke graduated in May with a BA in French Literature and Culture and also has a Master's of Public Health candidate, as well as being part of the Pre-Professional Scholars Program in Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. In April 2021, she shared with upper school French 2 students how she is applying her love of French to her public health studies and talked about her academic journey and successful creation of a non-profit, Periods for Peace, as part of her master's thesis.

Hannah developed a healthcare toolkit for young people that would address physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural aspects of sexuality and reproductive health based on UNESCO and WHO guidelines. With a $15,000 grant, Hannah and her co-founder were able to develop and then share the Periods for Peace curriculum in Sierra Leone, Senegal, and now back in Cleveland, where it is reaching recent francophone refugees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
