Ever dreamed about mouth-watering, delicious smoked delicacies roasting on an open fire? What better way to fire-off our #FiredUpFridays than to start with the fire-master himself: Marshall, The Smokin' Bell. This #Philly native and legendary Upper School English teacher, has been perfecting his fire-stoking techniques paired with his love for cooking. Bell's passion for barbecue led him to start following well-known BBQers on Insta and joining foodie groups before he jumped onboard with his own account: @the.smoking.bell. Though grilling is only half the fun, the other half is sharing his creations with family and friends. Bell reports that his favorite dish to make so far is his smokey pulled pork, but his "dino ribs'' are a close second! “Bring your appetite and a fan because this food is #fire!” says Mr. Bell.

Our 2021-22 social media campaign, Fired Up Fridays, pays tribute to the message engraved in the stone mantelpiece above the fireplace in the Henry Library that reads: “Kyndle yr awne ffyre” (Kindle Your Own Fire). Each Friday we will shine a light on members of the school community whose passion runs deep for a particular interest, activity, class, or hobby. #FiredUpFridays posts on Insta and Facebook, so be sure to follow along!
