Row, Row, Row Your Boat 🎶

Row, Row, Row Your Boat 🎶

Just this morning, singer extraordinaire senior Ashley sang the National Anthem at United States Postal Service (USPS) celebration in honor of the issuance of a new stamp celebrating women’s rowing. Who better than this talented songbird, varsity rower, and Winifred in Players Once Upon a Mattress to perform? Quite simply put, Ashley says, “I love performing and expressing myself through song.”

Ashley’s family can attest that she has been singing ever since she was 3 and amazing them with her ability to memorize all of the words to her favorite Disney songs. In Lower School, she made music videos for fun, in Middle School started voice lessons, and by Upper School became a member of SCH’s girls a cappella group, Laurelei.

“Beyond college, I am going to become a nurse, and I truly believe that music can heal. So, in whatever way I can care for people—through nursing or music—I will bring that with me for life!”  Ashley, we’ll miss you when you graduate, but we look forward to hearing more about your healing gift 🎶 while at the College of Nursing University of Tennessee and beyond!

Our 2021-22 social media campaign, Fired Up Fridays, pays tribute to the message engraved in the stone mantelpiece above the fireplace in the Henry Library that reads: “Kyndle yr awne ffyre” (Kindle Your Own Fire). Each Friday we will shine a light on members of the school community whose passion runs deep for a particular interest, activity, class, or hobby. #FiredUpFridays posts on Insta and Facebook, so be sure to follow along!
