Two Seniors Compete at Head of the Charles

Congratulations to seniors AJ Topping and Jack Stephenson who rowed in the Men’s Youth Double race at the Head of the Charles Regatta this past Sunday! The Head of the Charles is the world’s largest regatta, with over 60 events and 10,000+ participants.

Jack and AJ, who usually row in a quad for SCH, partnered up to finish 24th out of 53 boats which is no small feat, as the course is extremely winding and difficult to navigate. On the 3.2 mile course, there are 6 bridges that the boat must pass through! During a head race, boats start every 10 seconds, racing the clock. Jack and AJ battled the elements and managed to pass 7 boats and were passed by none!

We are so proud of Jack and AJ, as they are only the second Blue Devil boat to have ever raced in the Head of the Charles. We look forward to watching you race in the spring!
