With top 8 finishes at the recent Prep Wrestling National Open Tournament, RJ Moore and Mac Levin earn All-American status.
Due to COVID, the annual Prep National Wrestling Tournament, usually held the last weekend in February at Lehigh University, was held this past weekend (May 2-3) in Wilkes Barre, PA at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Six SCH wrestlers decided to participate.
Two of the wrestlers made it to the podium to collect All-American honors. The first, RJ Moore '22, at 170 lbs and seeded 7th, won 4 matches while losing just 2 to place 7th. RJ defeated a New England opponent with a 10-1 major decision then a North Carolina foe 10-3 before dropping his quarterfinal match against a Tennessee opponent by fall who would finish in 2nd place. He then major decisioned another New England wrestler 12-4, lost to Maryland by fall then won in his medal match 6-4 against a Virginia opponent.
Mac Levin '22—at 220 lbs.—won his first match by fall over a Texas opponent, lost to a Tennessee opponent by fall who would later take 2nd place, pinned another Texas wrestler, lost to a Pennsylvania opponent and lost by a 17-2 tech fall to another Tennessee wrestler to place 8th.
Huge congratulations to RJ and Mac, quite an accomplishment!
