The Football Team recognized their seniors at a "home" game at Haverford.
Before the Devils' "home" football game at Haverford, the coaches and athletic department honored the 2020-2021 seniors with an introduction, framed action picture, and a flower. We thank Haverford for helping us host this important game as Philadelphia COVID-19 restrictions did not permit a game to be hosted in Chestnut Hill.
Thank you to our senior class: Alex Caione, Matt Elliott, Pat Ferns, AJ Graham, Tyler Guzik, Brian Henesey, Tristan Holmbeck, Carnel Kemp, Bobby Markey, Luke Neverosky, TJ Spirito, and Nick Weston. We appreciate your effort, resilience, sportsmanship, and commitment.
Haverford scored first on a long drive but missed the extra point to go up 6-0. The Blue Devils responded with their own drive, ending with a 36-yard field goal by Brian Henesey to make it 6-3 at the half. No further scoring until 5:46 left in the fourth when the Fords crossed the goal again for another 6 plus the extra point to make it a 13-3 game. SCH was not able to score, leaving the final at 13-3 Haverford.
AJ Graham finished the day 10 of 24 for 139 yards. Six of those passes went to Bobby Markey for 85 yards. Ivan Thorpe grabbed 2 for 35 yards while Carnell Kemp and Luke Sonnet each caught one. Luke Sonnet also led the team in rushing with 41 yards on 13 carries.
On defense, Henesey was the Devils top tackler with 11 stops. Luke Neverosky recorded eight stops, collecting a fumble recovery. Aiden Dooley, Tyler Guzik, and Thorpe all had six tackles while Pat Ferns, Matt Elliott, Tom Shelinsky, and Carnel Kemp stopped three Ford runners.
SCH takes on the Germantown Patriots again this Thursday due to coronavirus issues which have canceled the originally-scheduled SCH vs Penn Charter game.
