Boys' and Girls' Soccer Teams Dominate Opening Play

The boys' and girls' soccer teams are off to a solid start with victories in the first week of competition. Boys' Varsity got the win 3-0 vs GFS to start the season last Friday. Ryan White ‘23 had 1 goal and 2 assists, while Colin Woehlcke ‘23 scored 1 goal, JT Hughes ‘23 1 goal, and Daniel Heep ‘23 1 assist. It was a solid defensive effort all around, and goalkeepers Ben Rodgers ‘22 & Cole Carberry ‘26 recorded the shutout.  


Girls' Varsity had a 8-0 win over GFS with goals by Maya McDermott '22 (3), Lisa McIntyre '23, Virginia Perry '22, Carly Hirshka '24 (2) and Abigail Kenkelen '24. Goalies Ellie Stratz '23 and Gracyn Lee-Torchiana '25 recorded the shutout. Girls' Varsity competed in a second game this past Thursday vs a talented Archbishop Wood team and came away with a 3-1 win in a hard fought team battle. Senior Lauren Sullivan led the way with a goal and an assist while Virginia Perry '22 and Brynn Donahue '24 chipped in a goal apiece. 


Both boys' and girls' JV squads also won each of their games this past week and posted shutouts. Great work!


Boys' Soccer will finish this week with a game on Saturday vs Parkland High School on the Class of 2016 Field at 4 PM! Go Devils!
