Athletes of the Week Ending 9/28

The following students have been named Athletes of the Week ending 9/28:

Bethany Haughton '25 - Volleyball - Bethany was on fire on offense and defense last week. She was a blocking beast recording the most blocks on the team; she changed the attackers' shots and hits using excellent positioning to funnel the ball to our defenders; and her dynamic movement on offense allowed her to score in multiple ways. Even when she isn't being set, her speed to the net holds opponents' blockers in place giving our other hitters better opportunities to score. Great job Bethany!

Sadiek Willis '26 - Football - Sadiek led the SCH defense in holding down a talented Lawrenceville offense in the Blue Devils’ 40-14 victory at Homecoming. He had 2 tackles, 3 sacks, and 2 huge 3rd down stops. Sadiek's play and leadership have been a big key to our success so far this season. Keep working hard, Sadiek!

Alex Topping '25 - Golf - Alex has posted the low score in 3 of the last 4 weeks for the varsity golf squad, including a 38 at Sunnybrook during the SCH invitational and a 39 at Merion West in the EA-hosted event last week. As a senior captain, his leadership has been tremendous and we are looking forward to more of his success in the remainder of the season.

Connor Brown '25 - Cross Country - The boys' tri-meet at Belmont Plateau vs GA and Haverford featured senior Connor Brown battling for the meet’s top spot. Connor finished in second place out of 47 athletes, and he was only a few seconds behind the first-place finisher. Connor posted a stellar 5k time of 18 minutes and 30 seconds!

Callan Curry '27 - Soccer - Callan is a sophomore who has started every game for the JV at center back and she is a leader on the field both in training and games. Her aggressive style of play, hard work, and will to improve both her own play and that of her teammates make her the athlete of the week for the US JV Girls Soccer team. Way to go, Callan!

Alex DeCaro '29 - Soccer - Alex’s athleticism, endurance, and field presence have propelled the MSB varsity soccer team to a great start this season. He is also adept with his feet and scored a highlight reel goal last week, he dribbled through our defensive zone, across the midfield, and unloaded a cannon of a shot just outside the 18 breaking a 2-2 tie and leading the way to another victory. Awesome work, Alex!

Cecily Gellhorn '30 - Cross Country - Cecily battled illness at the start of the season and had to practice patience with her return to running. Despite the initial setbacks, Cecily has pushed through with determination, poise, and resilience. She brings her all to each workout and has taken over 2 minutes off her first race time from the beginning of the season. We are so happy to have her on our team!
