Athletes of the Week Ending 9/2

The following students have been named Athletes of the Week, ending 9/2:

Veronica Goettner '25 - Field Hockey - Veronica scored a hat trick in last week’s big home opener victory vs ANC. She has been giving 100% at practice and hustles every day at the midfield, demonstrating excellent leadership for our younger players! Keep it up, V! 

Ryan McManus '24 - Soccer - Ryan stepped up big time last week for our defense, filling in where needed for an array of injuries. He contributed to our first shutout of the season against GFS. Ryan has been a tremendous leader on and off the field throughout preseason, and we look forward to his continued development and presence as we progress through the non-league season. 

Alex Reilly '24 & Brynn Donohue '24 - Soccer - Alex and Brynn took ownership in new positions as center backs last week and were leaders on the field in the 3-1 win over Archbishop Wood and 0-0 OT tie vs a strong Summit CDS team from Ohio. The seniority and leadership they provide in the back line are amazingly positive, and the rest of the team feeds off it and performs as a result!

Aaron Clark '26 - Football - Aaron had 4 catches for 105 yards on offense, 4 tackles on defense and an ESPN highlight one-handed interception that helped seal the Blue Devils’ 28-7 season-opening victory over Lansdale Catholic last Saturday at the Battle at the Beach in Ocean City. 

Ameara Smith ‘24 - Tennis - Ameara had a great 1st doubles win with Finley Redpath in straight sets 6-4,6-3 vs GFS last week, and she stepped up to be our awesome captain for 2023. Her leadership, positive attitude, and hard work on the court is appreciated and we know she will keep it up all season!
