Athletes of the Week Ending 5/4

The Girls JV Quad - Crew - Charlotte Trayes '26, Caitlin Keough '25, Emma Ludwikowski '25, and Ariya Goswami '26 had a great week, winning bronze medals at both the Cooper Cup held in NJ and at PSRA City Championships on the Schuylkill river. The quad has its eye on the Stotesbury Regatta next, looking to beat race rivals GFS and face tough national competition. Go get it, girls!

The Boys JV Double - Crew - Ethan Quinn '26 and Trey Angell '25 had 3 great races last Saturday and Sunday at PSRA City Championships on the Schuylkill River. They placed 5th in time trials and 3rd in their heat in semis to make the finals where they ultimately finished 5th overall. Theirs was the only SCH boat that raced a time trial, semi-final, and final at City Champs. Great work, Ethan and Trey!

Bella Tinneny '28 - Track & Field - Bella proved that being open to feedback, executing practice plans, hard work, and a great attitude are the ingredients for success. Last Friday night at the Henderson HS Hoka meet she placed 2nd in her 800m event with a PR time of 2:29.70! Great job Bella, and congrats on the PR!

The Boys 4x100m Relay - Track & Field - On Wednesday the 4x100m team won a thriller at Malvern Prep! Team Captain and relay anchor Jayden Sumpter secured the exciting win by just a half second. Not only did the boys' team win, but they also came within .6 seconds of the school record set back in 2009. Congratulations to Xavier Jones, Xavier Artis, Finn Whittle, and Jayden Sumpter for a season-best time of 43.97!

Alec Stewart '28 - Tennis - At #2 Singles, Alec has drawn tough matches all year and piled up some gutsy wins! Last week, Alec found a way to win 8-6 over Shipley. Versus PC, he started 1-4 down. After the break he ran off 4 points straight to lead 5-4, and then the players traded games until they reached a tie-break. Alec pulled out the 7-5 win in the tie-break towards a team win 5-2 over PC! Alec, great job showing resilience and toughness to be a major contributor to the MS Varsity Tennis team!

Keira Evans '30 - Track & Field - As a 6th grader, Keira Evans has been making her mark on the track in the 100mH, LJ, 400m, and 4x100. At the MS team's last meet against The Philadelphia School, Keira placed 1st in both the 100m hurdles and long jump and was lead off leg for the girls' winning 4x100m relay. Way to shine, Keira!

Hudson DiRienzo '29 - Baseball - Hudson has been a force for the MS JV team this season, crushing the ball at the plate and making difficult fly balls look easy to catch in the outfield. Hudson doesn’t hesitate when called on to pitch and he has been a great teammate. Keep up the good work, Hudson!

James Owens '30 - Tennis - James works hard and holds himself and his MS JV teammates to a high standard of play and sportsmanship. He takes on a leadership role in practice and in matches every day. James has grown as a player, both individually and in doubles play and we look forward to his success next season!
