The following students have been named Athletes of the Week ending 1/6:
Beckett Chizmar '27 - Wrestling - Beckett bumped up a weight class and pinned his opponent in last week’s match-up with Friends’ Central. That win sealed a team win for the Blue Devils at the Westtown Duals! Keep up the great work, Beckett!
Aurie Brown '25 - Basketball - Manager Aurie Brown has been instrumental to the strong start of the season for the boys varsity and JV teams this season. Taking on a variety of different responsibilities including official stat keeper, game day PA announcer, and many more, Aurie’s work while often behind the scenes has been above and beyond and is deserving of recognition! We appreciate you, Aurie!
Tony Hicks '25 - Indoor Track - Tony ran the 400m at The Armory Hispanic Games last Saturday in NYC, finishing with a PR and winning a second-place medal! He is also moving up in the rankings in the 60-meter hurdles, and currently stands at 7th in the country! Way to go, Tony and we can’t wait to see what happens next!
Taylor Williams '28 - Basketball - Taylor, an 8th grade standout, is already making her presence known at the high school level. She is an almost 6' tall center and is currently averaging 7 points and 7 rebounds per game, generating interest from college programs like the University of Maryland. We're excited for Taylor's future within the Blue Devils program!
Scarlett Spector '26 - Basketball - In her second year, Scarlett continues to expand her scoring range and versatility as a forward. Her athleticism, gritty play, and fearlessness make her a valuable contributor to a young but competitive JV roster.
Mimi Gallagher '28 - Basketball - Mimi has anchored the MSG varsity basketball team so far this season. On offense, she is consistently one of our top scorers with arguably the highest scoring percentage. Whether she is weaving gracefully through the lane on the way to a layup, shooting a foul shot or jumper from outside the arc, the ball invariably finds the bottom of the net. On defense, she can play anywhere on the court in our 2-3 set whether it be in the middle, on a wing, or up top. In our man-to-man defense, her speed, anticipation, and determination force the opposition to think twice when they look her way. Great work, Mimi!
