The following students have been named Athletes of the Week ending December 3:
Jaren Morton '23 - Basketball - Jaren has been a “stat stuffer” throughout the week for the basketball program. He averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds, leading the team to a 2-0 start. Jaren knocked down a 3-pointer with 23.6 seconds left to lift SCH to an exciting come-from-behind, 58-57 win at Friends’ Central last Tuesday, and he continues to impress with his poise and skill. Great work, Jaren!
Faith S '23 - Basketball - Through the first two scrimmages and the opening weekend of the official season, Faith has been a steadfast senior leader. Her defensive tenacity, balanced offensive skill set, and composure under pressure earned her the role of co-captain. Averaging just under 5 points, 5 rebounds, and almost 2 steals per game, Faith is our anchor at both ends of the court. Awesome job, Faith!
Zach Hosay '23 - Ice Hockey - Zach scored the lone goal in an intense battle with Pennington last Friday, after leading the offense as a scoring threat and with great shots. He consistently has an excellent attitude and is a hard worker in both games and practice. Keep it up, Zach!
Layla Shands '25 - Basketball - Layla has been an impact player in the JV (and Varsity) games this season. Her impressive timing and athleticism allow her to quickly convert steals into points. She is also a willing passer with a knack for getting her teammates the ball in scoring areas. A contribution that doesn't appear in the stat book is Layla's high basketball IQ and ability to assess her opponent and leverage every possible advantage.
Joey Schreiber '27 - Wrestling - Joey is undefeated in matches so far this season, but more importantly, he has taken on a great leadership role with the MS squad. We look forward to his continued success and his mentorship of his younger teammates. Way to go, Joey!
