The following students have been named Athletes of the Week ending 10/5:
Warren Miller '27 - Soccer - There's an old saying in sports: "A player's best ability is their availability." Warren not only exudes this maxim having played in all 14 games this season, but he also adds a flexibility that has proven so useful for the boys' varsity team this fall. He is capable of playing anywhere in the middle of the field from defensive center-mid to striker, and his willingness to play wherever necessary to help the team is such a great attribute. His willingness to ask questions and listen to the answers contributes to and displays his desire to grow as a player. We are so excited to see how Warren continues to progress throughout this season and beyond.
Ella Brown '26 - Tennis - In a big-time Inter-Ac matchup against Baldwin with the team win on the line, Ella, our #2 singles player, battled through a loss in the first set and came back to win the second from a 1-5 deficit. Then, she won the third in a super-breaker to propel SCH to victory! The Devils have not beaten Baldwin as a team in over 5 years so this was a huge win for the girls! Congratulations, Ella!
Colleen Conlan '25 - Field Hockey - Colleen, a senior captain and University of Massachusetts commit, tallied 30 saves in last week’s tough 0-1 loss to Episcopal. Colleen’s leadership of the defense from the cage has been integral to the Devils’ success this season and we can’t wait to see what she accomplishes at the next level! Great work, Colleen!
Avni Segrave-Daly '27 - Cross Country - Avni finished in 4th place in the Inter-Ac tri-meet against Baldwin and Notre Dame at Belmont Plateau on 10/1 and four days later placed 29th amongst 309 runners at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University! Avni is a new 10th-grade student with tremendous running potential. Amazing running, Avni!
Evelyn Cantlin '28 - Field Hockey - Evelyn is a swing player and really has stepped up in the JV games, scoring great goals. She always brings energy at practice and at games and is quickly improving every day. Keep working hard and go, Evelyn!
Bezi Merid '26 and Sami Moore '26 - Tennis - Bezi and Sami played a masterful doubles match against a very tough Baldwin opponent last Friday. Their winning score of 6-1, 6-1 demonstrated their dominance in the match. Strategically, both Bezi and Sami outlasted their opponents with long rallies from Bezi at the baseline and superior net play from Sami. Great job, Bezi and Sami!
Nandini Todi '29 - Volleyball - Nandini has been steadily improving throughout the season and had an excellent game for the MS varsity squad in our win vs Baldwin. Her consistent serving has been a gamechanger and her solid, poised play is an example to the rest of the team. Keep up the great work, Nandini!
