Athletes of the Week 11/13

Athletes of the Week 11/13

The following athletes are recognized as Athletes of the Week for the week ending 11/13:

Maya McDermott ‘22 - Varsity Soccer - Maya had a great goal and an assist vs Episcopal in the PAISAA semi-final game last week. She has not only been a threat on the field all season long but she is also the heart and soul of this team. As a senior captain, her positive attitude, leadership, and all about the TEAM mentality was a major contributing factor to the team's success this year. Wishing you all the best playing soccer at Syracuse, Maya!

Tyler Roberts ‘24 - Varsity Football - Tyler led the defense with 19 tackles in last week’s game vs Malvern. His performance helped to hold Malvern, the #5 ranked team in SouthEastern PA, to their 2nd lowest point total of the season. We look forward to Tyler's continued potential and successful future with the Blue Devil Football program.

Veronica Goettner ‘25 - Varsity Field Hockey - As a freshman, Veronica is a leader in our midfield. During the regular season, she helped lead us to victory over ANC and Baldwin and scored the goal that gave us a tie vs Princeton Day. Veronica also had an assist to the game-winning goal vs PC in the Commonwealth Cup finals last week. Way to go, Veronica!

Sean Stackhouse ‘22 - Varsity Soccer - Sean was vital to our successes not only this week but also throughout the season. During our PAISAA run, he had both goals in a 2-1 win over The George School. His composed, mature, and inspired midfield play stabilized our team in a competitive game against InterAc rival GA in the PAISAA semi-final, a game we lost 1-0. In his final game for the Hillers, a disappointing loss, Stackhouse fought until the end, even forcing the Malvern goalkeeper into an incredible save off a worldie of a left-footed shot from 25 yards out. Sean's impact last week was indicative of his three years as part of our program: Full of skill, grit, and dedication.

Brighton Fontaine ‘26 - MS Football - Brighton is a fantastic young man who was the star of our offensive and defensive line all season. He had a great game vs. Malvern in last Thursday’s 15-6 win with 6 tackles, 1 sack, and 3 tackles for a loss. Awesome season, Brighton!
