The following athletes are recognized as Athletes of the Week for the week ending 10/23:
Veronica Gula ‘24 - Cross Country - Congratulations to Veronica Gula for her 3rd place finish in the Inter-Ac Championship race on 10/18 at Belmont Plateau! Veronica finished in 20:17 seconds and has worked tremendously hard all season to overcome an injury and realize her personal record this year. She is committed, disciplined and dedicated to achieving her best!
Cole Carberry ‘26 - Varsity Soccer - Cole has stepped up to every challenge laid before him, especially when it comes to his inaugural Inter-Ac season. With a stout defense in front of him, lined with a mixture of experience and young guys, Cole started the league with three consecutive shutouts against PC, GA, & Haverford. In short, Cole is learning quickly, gaining a wonderful understanding of how the league is played and what is demanded of someone in such a high pressure position. His performances have matched the pressure. Upward, young fella!
Zach Schapiro ‘22 - Varsity Golf - Zach had the low score for the team in the last 2 matches held at Merion Golf Club and the 1912 Club. He also represented SCH at the Inter-Ac Championship this week at Bluestone Country Club, and will be a part of the PAISAA team competing at The Golf Course at Glen Mills. Zach is a team captain, and has shown his leadership on the team as an excellent motivator, especially with the younger players. Keep up the great work, Zach!
Devyn Conlan ‘25 - Varsity Field Hockey - Devyn is a second year starter for the Blue Devils and dominates on the field during every game in which she plays. She scored the lone goal against AIS and consistently creates opportunities for SCH to score in the circle. As a freshman, her poise and skill are impressive, and she proves on a daily basis that she has the heart and toughness that the team needs to succeed! Way to go, Devyn!
Dean DiRienzo ‘27 - MS JV Football - Dean quickly stepped into a leadership role among his teammates and ensured both sustained drives on offense and shut down stands on defense. He not only had a touchdown grab, but also had two key catches with the sun in his eyes and Churchmen flanking him on all sides. Dean proved to be fearless, intense, and composed for all four quarters of the game. Awesome job, Dean!
Marlee Howard ‘26 - MS Varsity Volleyball - Marlee’s serves were spot on and helped SCH gain two awesome victories over Notre Dame! She always gives 100% effort at practice each day, and has been such a fabulous addition to the volleyball team this year! Excellent season, Marlee!
