Athletes of the Week ending October 11

The following students have been named Athletes of the Week ending October 11:

Ryan Pearcy '28 - Soccer - Under the tutelage of Jeff McDonald, our goalkeeper coach, Ryan has improved dramatically since August. This is, in part, due to coaching; however, it also has so much to do with Ryan's willingness to learn, ask questions, and put in the work. He's become a vocal leader at the back and has helped keep us in games we'd otherwise not be in with several big saves, specifically against GA and EA this past week. Well done, Ryan!

Alexa Edwards ‘26 and Riley Zlotkin ‘28 - Tennis - Alexa and `Riley played at both #1 and #2 doubles last week and won both of their matches with identical scores of 6-3, 6-1 vs Notre Dame and Friends’ Central. They have continued to grow together as a team and they bring energy and fight to each match they play. Congratulations Alexa and Riley!

Scarlet DiDonato ‘27 and Soleil Bynum ‘28 - Tennis - Scarlet and Soleil secured a tough victory vs Friends’ Central in the 3rd doubles spot. As a new JV doubles team, Scarlet and Soleil battled to win their first set with a come from behind score of 7-5. They then discussed and adjusted their strategy for the second set and easily won 6-0! Great work, girls!

Maeve McManus ‘31 - Soccer - Maeve has been one of the MSG varsity team’s most consistent defenders on the back line, first as an outside back, and then also finding success partnering with one of our 8th graders at center back. She is a thoughtful and fearless player and is a key part of our team! Keep up the good work, Maeve!

Paxton Benzekri ‘30 - Soccer - Paxton helped secure the MSB varsity team’s 2–0 win against Penn Charter last Thursday by scoring the final goal to put the game away for the Devils. He has a bright future and we can’t wait to see his progress! Great job, Paxton!

Maddie Toomey ‘31 - Volleyball - Maddie has consistently brought positivity and effort into our recent varsity games, and her energy and enthusiasm never goes unnoticed. Her consistent and smart passing has kept us competitive and fighting for every point. She has been a key part of our team showing great hustle and team spirit. Keep it up, Maddie!

Jack McGowan ‘30 - Cross Country - Jack is a very hard worker and great role model for our younger MS runners, always bringing his best self to every practice and race. Over the course of this season, he has taken 32 seconds off his best Belmont time from last year and placed 9th in the InterAc at the championship meet. Way to go, Jack!

Sloane Smith ‘32 - Volleyball - Sloane has been putting in the work at practice and it has shown; her effort and improvement have been huge for the MSG JV squad’s gameplay. Sloane came up big in our win against Notre Dame, delivering consistent and clutch serves in the third set to help seal the victory. Keep up the great work, Sloane, your hard work is paying off!
