Brian T. Derby '99
Brian led his CHA track team to an Inter-Ac Championship his senior year, while setting league and school records in the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles and 400 meter. As a senior Brian went on to rank fifth among 400 hurdlers nationwide. He captained the Penn State University track team his junior and senior year and was the Big Ten Conference champion in the 400 hurdles in 2001 and 2003. Brian was recognized as an NCAA All-American in 2001 after he finished fourth in the NCAA and ran the 29th fastest time in the world in the 400 meter hurdles. Brian turned professional in 2003 and signed an endorsement agreement with Nike. He competed in 15 countries, ranking as high as tenth in the U.S., and in 2007 ran the eleventh fastest time in the world in the 400 hurdles. He competed at both the 2004 and 2008 Olympic team trials.
