Houston Society

Founded in 2015, The Houston Society recognizes Springside Chestnut Hill Academy’s most generous benefactors who have made lifetime gifts totaling $250,000 or more, including annual gifts, gifts to endowments, capital projects, restricted gifts, and planned gifts.

The society is named in memory of Henry Howard Houston (1820-1895)—one of America’s greatest post-Civil War entrepreneurs—who, with four generations of family members, was a leader in politics, diplomacy, suburban planning, land conservation, historic preservation, and philanthropy of which Springside School and Chestnut Hill Academy have been the beneficiaries for more than a century.

We are privileged to have alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends who qualify for this honor through their extraordinary philanthropy. Members of The Houston Society share the same vision and passion for greater SCH.

Heritage Society

The SCH Heritage Society was created in 2011 and includes the 1861 Society (CHA) and 1879 Society (Springside). Members of these societies have made a planned gift to Springside School, Chestnut Hill Academy, or Springside Chestnut Hill Academy and have shared their plans with the school. A planned gift ensures that Springside Chestnut Hill Academy will continue to be strong and financially secure into the future and can bring financial benefits not only to the school but also to you. Planned gifts enable you to provide for your family and allow you significant charitable deductions, generate lifelong income, convert low-yielding assets into a higher income stream, and reduce or eliminate capital gains and estate taxes. An education worth remembering is a legacy worth making.
