Meet Coach Ed Aversa

“I’m lucky. What’s that old saying? ‘If you do something you love, you’ll never work another day in your life.’ I’ve found that,” says Coach Aversa. When he’s coaching basketball and football, Ed focuses not just on kids’ physical strengths and skills, he also cares about their mindset. He teaches them to be mentally tough, not just talented. “It’s a life well lived when you can affect a kid positively,” he said. Athletic Director Dave Wilson describes Ed as a down-to-earth person who takes the time to listen and help students—literally thousands—since 1997, “Ed Aversa makes SCH a better place!”

Norma Wingate

Meet Norma wingate

Whether she’s on the sidelines of a SCH Blue Devils' game or in the training room or following up with an athlete after a persistent injury, SCH’s certified athletic trainer Norma Wingate is a calm, strong presence.

As a certified Athletic Trainer, Norma assesses, rehabilitates, and tapes up athletic injuries. The most rewarding part of her job is getting a student-athlete back on the field, court, or track and seeing their joy as they play the sport they love.

Her days are never dull, and she feels supported by everyone. “I love the people I work with here. I love the support from the parents, to the coaches, to the administration. Steve (SCH Head of School) really understands the role of an athletic trainer. He comes to almost every game...in the cold, the rain. It feels good to be supported.”

Aimee Keough

Meet Aimee Keough

“I just had this feeling. I knew this was the place for me,” Aimee Keough, assistant athletic director, athletic trainer, and health teacher recalled from her first steps on campus 13 years ago, “It feels like home.” Keough does her part to make everyone feel as comfortable as she is at SCH; her training room serves as a gathering place for students to hang out and chat with Keough, who understands that sometimes what they need isn’t physical healing. “It’s a safe spot. Sometimes they just need to be heard."

In addition to her roles in helping run the well-oiled machine that is the SCH Athletic Department and providing acute care to student-athletes, Keough teaches health to Lower and Middle School and 9th grade girls, and she works tirelessly to keep the SCH community up to date on all things social with the #SCHBlueDevils @SCHBlueDevils.
