Step 1: The Application
SCH Academy welcomes international applications year-round. International applicants should access our common application at www.IEOPPS.com
to begin the application process. While electronic submission is preferable, if this is not possible, a paper copy may be obtained by contacting Kathleen Tkac at email@example.com
, which can then be scanned and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
. When submitting your application, please remit the application fee online. Wiring instructions are available to make payment directly at your banking institution.
Step 2: Standardized Testing, Transcripts, and Teacher Recommendations
SCH Academy requires both the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) as well as the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT). In addition, we ask that you provide the last two years of grade reports, including any testing results with your application. Lastly, a recommendation is required from both your math and English teachers; a third from a counselor or teacher of your choice may also be submitted.
Step 3: Admissions Interview
After all documents are received, SCH Academy will conduct an interview through Skype or over the phone (Skype is preferred). The interviews generally take about 20 minutes and are an informal “get to know you” time during which we also look for English proficiency. Admissions officers may ask for a brief writing sample that you will have to type into the text box in Skype.
Step 4: Admissions Decision, I-20 Issuance, Financial Agreements
For candidates who have completed the application process by January 20, IEO and SCH will inform candidates of acceptance on February 1. For candidates who complete the process after this date, acceptances will be on a rolling basis. This will be in the form of an acceptance letter and an online enrollment contract with SCH, which will require a deposit. You must complete the online enrollment contract to be a matriculated student at SCH Academy and will subsequently receive the I-20. It is the responsibility of the student to obtain an I-901, which requires a fee.
Step 5: Additional Forms
There will be several forms that require signatures and doctor’s appointments once a student has enrolled at SCH Academy. These include but may not be limited to the SCH Physical Form (including immunization records) and Dental Form as well as the online Emergency Form, Medication Permission Form, and Sudden Cardiac Arrest and Concussion Forms. Also, IEO will require a Guardianship Form, Travel Authorization Form, and an IEO Health Form. A math placement test will also be scheduled prior to your departure to determine what level of math class you will enroll in upon arrival at SCH Academy.
